Some love stories don't announce themselves with grand gestures. They arrive quietly-soft smiles exchanged across a bridge, nervous laughter that slowly turns into genuine belly laughs, hands finding one another without thinking, and inside joke that make absolutely no sense to anyone else. (Especially if it happens to involve a secret handshake.) Victoria and Austin's engagement session was exactly that kind of love story.

The kind that sneaks up on you.

The kind that leaves you driving home with a full heart and the biggest grin on your face.

"We're not photogenic"

It's one of the most common things we hear before an engagement session.

"We're awkward."

"We don't know what to do."

"We've never liked photos of ourselves."

Victoria and Austin admitted right away that they were feeling nervous. Previous photography experiences had left them believing they simply weren't photogenic people. Traditional posing had felt stiff, uncomfortable, and honestly...just not like them.

Here's the secret we wish every couple knew:

Being photogenic isn't a personality trait.

Feeling comfortable is.

Our job has never been to make couples fit into perfectly posed boxes. Our job is to create a space where they can simply be themselves-and then preserve all the beautiful moments that naturally unfold.

If you've ever wandered through Dr. William H. Lacey Memorial Park in the spring, you already know the magic. Towering trees create pockets of soft light, vibrant azaleas burst into color around every bend, and tucked quietly among the blooms sits one of Moncks Corner's most charming little bridges. It feels like the kind of place where love stories have been unfolding for generations. And it ended up being the perfect backdrop for Victoria and Austin's engagement session.

Everywhere we turned, spring seemed to be showing off. Golden sunlight filtered through the trees, colorful blossoms framed every portrait, and nature did what South Carolina springtime does best-it made everything feel just a little more romantic.

A romantic couple shares a tender moment outdoors, with the man gently holding the woman's face as she smiles up at him.

Instead of asking them to stand perfectly still or smile on command, we invited them to move.

To walk.

To Talk.

To tease one another.

To remember little moments only the two of them share.

Slowly, the nerves melted away. The smiles became effortless. The laughter became contagious. The quiet glances turned into the kind of looks that make you realize these two have found home in each other.

Watching them become more comfortable minute by minute is one of our favorite parts of every engagement session. It's never about creating a version of our couples-it's about uncovering the one that was there all along. And this couple was so sweet they could have genuinely give you a toothache. They're endlessly kind to one another, laugh with their whole hearts, and carry an ease together that feels incredibly rare. Their love extends beyond each other too. Friends, family, and meaningful traditions are woven into the fabric of who they are.

Perhaps our favorite example would be when somewhere between laughter, conversation, and chasing golden light, they created an official secret handshake just for the Moon&Palm team.

We consider this to be one of the highest honors we've ever received.

This engagement session also carried a quiet layer of significance. Austin would soon to be leaving for PA school, meaning this season of life was about to shift in a big way. Before new adventures, demanding schedules, and time apart, there was this perfect evening.

A pause.

One golden spring afternoon where the world slowed down long enough for them to simply be together.

Photographs have a beautiful way of preserving chapters that are about to change. Years from now, these images won't just remind Victoria and Austin what they looked like. They'll remember how this season felt.

The anticipation, the excitement, the bittersweet countdown.

The certainty that, even with the distance ahead, they were building a life worth waiting for.

And as the sun dipped lower, and the evening turned to dusk, we knew we couldn't have designed a more perfect spring engagement session if we had tried. Victoria and Austin reminded us that the best photographs aren't created by perfect poses-they're created by genuine connection.

Whether you're convinced you're awkward in front of the camera, have never loved having your photo taken, or simply want an engagement session that feels more like an unforgettable date than a photoshoot, we'd love to create that experience with you. We'll help you find the perfect location, guide you every step of the way with natural prompts (no stiff posing required), and create space for your personalities to shine. Because your love story deserves photographs that feel as authentic as the life you're building together.

Here's to golden hour, blooming azaleas, secret handshakes, and the beautiful chapters that deserve to be remembered.
